November has not been a very good month for me.

I went to the emergency room on the 1st due to severe abdominal pain. It turned out that I have gallstones. I'm scheduled to have my gallbladder removed next month. It's still a long way until then, though; who knows what will happen in the interim.

It got worse. I came down with a severe cough and high fever shortly after my trip to the emergency room. While the fever subsided after a week, my cough still persisted, though not as severe as before. One of my tonsils also started swelling up. I went to see another doctor earlier this week; it turned out that I had a mild respiratory infection. I'm currently on antibiotics right now; hopefully, the cough will disappear completely and my tonsil will shrink back down to normal.

And now today, I noticed that one of my teeth is chipped. I don't have dental insurance, and getting it fixed will probably be ludicrously expensive.

I am not a very healthy man, now am I?

I haven't had a notable dream in months. Something has to be up.

( 'Well, I am afraid it will have to wait. Whatever it was, I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here? Good luck, everyone.' )

I never got to see how exactly it all ended, though. That's a first.

Uh, let's see what's been up in my life so far. I was sick earlier this week, but that came and went.

Oh yeah, Hearts of Iron II. I've had that game for quite a while now, but it's only recently that I've really started playing through it. It's also rather easy (if a bit tedious) to mod. All in all, it's pretty fun, though it does require patience, a long attention span, good multitasking abilities, and some imagination.

Happy birthday to them too, I guess?

Just because I find it interesting, people who died on my birthday include Leon Trotsky (1940), Benigno Aquino, Jr. (1983), and Charles and Ray Eames (Charles in 1978, Ray in 1988).

I basically spent all day yesterday hunting around second-hand stores for any hidden treasures. Here's what I managed to dig up:

The roar of jet engines in the skies over my house means only one thing: The airshow's back in town, and a month earlier than usual, too.

This year, the Blue Angels are in town. Two of their F/A-18 Hornets made two passes over my house. I think I have temporary ear damage, but it's worth it. Hornets, man.

There was a freak rainstorm today. Seriously, this is central California, not central Luzon. It's not supposed to rain at this time of year.

Anime Expo started yesterday. Special guests include Hiroyuki Imaishi, Yun Kouga, Yosuke Kuroda, Seiji Mizushima, Morning Musume, Kari Wahlgren, Kyle Hebert, Brina Palencia, Mike McFarland, several of the guys behind Robot Chicken, and a whole bunch of people involved with the Power Rangers franchise (unfortunately, not including Johnny Yong Bosch). I have no money and no way of getting to Los Angeles. Do the math.

Last year, they had Shoko Nakagawa and David Hayter. The year before, they had Aya Hirano, Minori Chihara, and Yuko Goto. I hate living in this backwater.

I had a rather bizarre dream last night.

• I finally beat the final China mission in Command & Conquer: Generals after putting it off for about a year and a half. Apparently, TV Tropes was right about the enemy Scud Storm not firing if you have less than $5000 in the bank.


• I got a haircut today. I no longer look like Lelouch Lamperouge now, but that's okay; it'll grow back eventually, and I like my new haircut.


• I saw a guy at the gas station who looked exactly like America from Axis Powers Hetalia. Seriously.


• I'd like a way to obtain the Touhou games legally so I can be a legitimate fan of the franchise; at this point, I'm just in it for the extremely copious amounts of fanart and nothing else.

As much as I dread the prospect, I may need a Twitter account so I can do this thing more effectively...

It's only recently that I discovered the create.swf app on Walfas.org. After playing around with it for a while, I managed to scrape together a Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun spoof. Here it is in GIF form (because I lack access to proper Flash-making tools), and here is the original cutscene that it's referencing. The timing may be a bit off, and I obviously fudged quite a few things.

Also, watch this while you're at it, too.

The name of the game is to prevent your patient, Ms. Houraisan, from ODing on her meds. You don't have much control over where the pills land in her mouth, other than changing their color positions. You can, however, manipulate the viruses in her system and move them wherever you see fit; your primary objective is to manipulate the viruses such that any pills that land in her mouth are eliminated. You have to be quick about it, though, or Ms. Houraisan will choke to death if she gets too many pills in her.

What are you waiting for? Get to it and save her!

INSTRUCTIONS

To flip the two colors on a pill, click on it. You click on a virus, move the mouse cursor to where you want to drop it, and click again to place. Placed viruses will block the movement of falling pills, and if you're not careful they can pile up and quickly end the game. You must create two or more of the same color in a column, and then place an appropriately colored virus at the top or bottom of the row to get rid of them; alternately, you can use a virus to fill in a gap in a column of like colors to eliminate them.

And so it is done. Code Geass has finished its run on Adult Swim. But where to begin discussing it?

Oh yeah. Lelouch died, everyone else who deserved to die lived. Way to go, Ichiro Okouchi. While I've known the final outcome for quite some time (what can I say, I thrive on spoilers), it's really something else to actually see it happen with one's own eyes.

Kallen's appraisal of the post-Emperor Lelouch world is too optimistic; sure, everyone's getting along fine now, but how much do you want to bet that the world will degenerate into war and chaos again if something gets touched the wrong way? Ohgi doesn't deserve to be Prime Minister of Japan.

On the bright side, though, at least Jeremiah got the happy ending he deserved, running an orange farm exactly like Guilford told him to back in the day.
